How many times can a individual file exempt?

I filed exempt 7 times already i get a bonus every 3 months and i don't want to get taxed on them. I need to file 2 more times this year, Can i get in trouble for this year? last year i didn't pay anything, i got a small refund cause i had a dependent but did not earn the full credit because i made too much for me and the dependent so i got half of the child credit. I do understand i'm going to pay and i don't mind i just don't want to get in trouble. Every year i get screwed and i never get nothing with the exception of last year but still did not get the full amount back. Any suggestions on how to correct this or should I no longer file exempt? Can i get in big trouble, i'm willing to pay back!
