Why won't my new puppy eat?

hey i had this experience. my last dog when he was a puppy would not eat when i first got him, i think he was just getting use to the home he just layed around near the door until he got comfortable then walked around and looked at the house i sat food out for him and when i came back to check he was eating. just sit the food out for them
